I moved a 1974 Millrite MVN two weeks ago a distance of 110 miles. I strapped in to the trailer with 4 straps and nailed 2" x 6" to the trailer floor to hold the base. One friend bought a new Millrite and ordered it with an NTMB 30 spindle. My manual mill now is a Promax Bridgeport clone with a 30 taper spindle and I never want to own another R8 machine. Having said all that, A good machinist can do good work on a Clausing if he stays within it's limitations, but doing good work is easier on a Millrite. Bill

A three phase motor would be good to control spindle speed with (edit: by using a VFD), giving a wider range of infinitely adjusted speeds.
