An economically and environmentally acceptable process for preparing micaceous iron oxide from pyrite cinders has been successfully demonstrated in this paper. The resulting MIO was metallic gray, uniform flake shape and its particle size and aspect ratio were ~ 7.0 μm and ~ 7.0. A scale-up experiment showed good reproducibility.
