Author. Posted July 13, 2018. A friend of mine built a belt grinder, wood frame, single speed and he used idler pulleys for wheels and improvised a platen. I gave him a few belts and most recently a 220 grit ceramic belt. He started off with an 80 grit belt which is substantially thicker and stiffer.

The plans are free can be sent to a waterjet or cnc spot. A guy on a belt grinder facebook page sells pre-cut pieces for around $330 shipped. Just drill and tap some holes and bolt together.
